Writing a Bio is a difficult thing. You are trying to describe yourself. Reviewing this I have decided to change from describing "him" to talking about myself. Because it is my own story.

I have been taking pictures for all my life. But in the last eight years photography has become the main creative anchor point in my life. It is fulfilment. It is immensely satisfying.

On the other hand I write poems as another way of expressing myself. And writing comes more naturally to me. For photography I need to work harder. And the path was longer and more winding.

I was born in Germany and lived there for 49 years until 2009. After changing to New Zealand the country's landscape and nature became a major source of inspiration. Finding a photographic style and expressing thoughts and visions and feelings in my images was certainly influenced by this environment.
Since 2015 Athens became another place and source of inspiration. I love-hate this city. And it has so many facets that invite a photographer. From 2016 until 2019 I lived there. Covid changed a lot. So also the place where I live and work.  Currently this is New Zealand again.

In the past years I have been developing intentional camera movement (called ICM or motion blur) as a technique. I apply this technique on street portraits but also on the “Inner Core Project” that I have been developing since 2020. You find blog articles about this project in the blog section.

By profession I am a medical doctor. I have been working as a Palliative Medicine specialist for about 20 years. Until the end of 2015 I worked at a hospice in Invercargill, New Zealand. From 2015 until 2019 I did locum work as a specialist doctor in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. And since 2021 I am back in New Zealand working with a hospice in Wellington.

I had an exhibition at City Art Gallery Invercargill in New Zealand in 2014 under the title 'No Way Out'. The exhibition shows the interior of the Felix Nussbaum House, a museum in Osnabrück, Germany that reflects on the life of this extraordinary German painter. In 2013 I contributed images to BlackBox Gallery exhibitions in Portland/Oregon US. http://blackboxgallery.com
